"Hazard Pay"

Brand new cover for Shadowrun by Catalyst Game Labs (InMediaRes, LLC).

The book covers everything players need to know about playing the game regarding extreme environments (e.g., desert, arctic, space, etc.).

I was specifically instructed to do a cover that is broken into three parts - with a different scene in a different environment in each third. It was a very difficult direction and would've looked terrible any other way. Here, I split the cover into front and back, and made each half split into two scenes. The Desert section spread out like this looks quite large - but when folded, it works very well.

ah, it does look good, our local gaming store has this in stock, and it's one of the few 4.0 books I've actually stopped and flipped through. If you don't mind my asking though, is there any sort of backstory to the (assuming here) bear shaman from the snow scene?

LOL! Catalyst's direction was to have 1/3 of the cover represent an "extreme" arctic scene. My husband and I play Shadowrun, and came up with this arctic story about a Shadowrunner caught in a blizzard after pissing off an Inuit Bear Shaman - which then turned into an Inuit BEAR Shaman. I didn't have room for adding in other Shadowrunners, so added a Husky because it's a common dog for sledding. Then I thought about the loyalty of the dog to it's owner and considered it defending the runner - only to realize how much more dramatic it was if the Shaman summoned spirits who invoked their power of "Fear", which turned the dog away. So Man's Best Friend is giving a great big middle finger (sort of) to it's master. Loyalty has it's limits. :D

ah, kk. We have a Shaman who's first move is to make himself look as much like a Bear as possible, and second move is to start firing "lasers". in our group, so everyone commented upon seeing the cover

Echo! I can't get enough of your work! I buy at least 2 pieces from you every year at Mega-Con (I think I have at least 8 now) and my husband is a Shadowrun junkie, so now I've got him buying your art too. ;)
